Removing the Smell of Cigarette Smoke from your Vehicle

The smell of cigarette smoke is very difficult to get rid of. The odor soaks into fabrics and covers hard surfaces with a brown film that retains the scent, a scent that air fresheners may cover for a short period of time but will not ever remove. 1.Ground coffee has been used by truck drivers for many years to get rid of odors in their trailers. Some have learned that it works well to eliminate the smell of cigarette smoke in vehicles as well.
Directions: Set open bowls of ground coffee on the floorboards and on the seats with the windows and doors closed. Allow the ground coffee to absorb the smell of cigarette smoke in the car for 48 hours. If the odor doesn’t completely disappear, put a couple of open bowls of ground coffee under the seats. Over time the odor will decrease more and more.
2. Charcoal pieces are also very good odor absorber.
Directions: Place a large bowl of charcoal pieces on the cars seat, and keep the car closed for 48 hours. This will allow the charcoal to absorb the scent of cigarette smoke.
3. White vinegar is known to get rid of odors. It can be messy but it is very effective.
Directions: Pour about 8 ounces of white vinegar into the bottom of a deep bow or a bucket. Set it on the floorboard of the vehicle. Let it sit there for 2 full days. The scent of cigarette smoke should be unnoticeable.
4. Newspapers are also known to work well at getting rid of cigarette smoke.
Directions: Compact several sheets of black and white newsprint. Place them under the seats. Within days the car should be free from the smell. Change the newspapers occasionally and they will continue to keep the car odor free.
