National Butterfly Awareness Day

ButterflyMany of us love to see butterflies fluttering around flowers; in fact, it would be unimaginable to see the world without the colorful butterfly. To preserve the population of butterflies and to promote the industry, a non-profit organization called, “The Association for Butterflies” announced June 2cnd as National Butterfly Awareness Day.  The main purpose of this day is to raise awareness of butterflies and their importance as pollinators and their place in nature. Some of the activities one can do to celebrate National Butterfly Awareness Day is to plant a butterfly garden to help attract these beautiful insects. It is also important to discourage the use of pesticides. There are many places in South Carolina to view Butterflies in their natural habitat. We here at CoverQuest love to watch them in our backyard or at the park. To learn more about them visit a butterfly garden, Cypress Gardens in Moncks Corner and the Roper Mountain Science Center both boast intriguing butterfly gardens.  Butterflies are captivating creatures, we should feel lucky each time we see one floating over flowers, soaking up the sun.
