Measuring for a Boat Cover can make or break the fit of the cover. CoverQuest.com has many custom-fit and semi-custom fit patterns guaranteed to fit your specific year, make, and model, but sometimes a measurement is needed. Follow these simple tips to get a more accurate measurement.
Measuring for Length
Measure the length of the boat. Measure the longest point on the boat, from the tip of the bow to the transom. It is easiest to take this measurement by placing an object on the ground even with the tip of the bow and another at the transom. Take a straight line measurement from those two points. You do not want to contour to any windshield or tower; this will throw off your measurement. It is important to take all measurements in a straight line. There is no need to include the engine in these measurements. However, if your engine is mounted to a jack plate or bracket, do include the bracket or jack plate in the measurement (If jack plate or bracket exceeds 8 inches, you may want to go with a separate motor cover). If you have a bow pulpit or anchor davit on your boat, it is important to include that in your measurement. If your boat has an extended swim platform or swim step that is below the rub rail, do NOT include that in your measurement. However, we do offer a separate swim platform cover. All CoverQuest.com covers are designed to fit 3”-6” below the rub rail.
Measuring for Beam Width
Measure the beam width of your boat. This measurement should be taken at the widest point of the boat, usually towards the transom. Measure from outside edge to outside edge in a straight line. This measurement is your beam width.
